Suzie Bakos puts her signature spin on a Middle Eastern favourite: Kunafe
For her chef takeover at Jimmy’s BBQ Club, Suzie Bakos is bringing a taste of the Middle East to the table with her indulgent dessert course: Kunafe.
Kunafe (also spelled knafeh or kanafeh) is a beloved Middle Eastern dessert with centuries of history, dating back to 10th-century Arabic cookbooks. It’s enjoyed across the Levant, Turkey, and North Africa, with each region putting its own spin on it - often served at celebrations and family gatherings. From Palestinian Nabulsi-style to Egyptian Ramadan versions, it’s a dish full of history, culture, and serious comfort food vibes.
Suzie’s kunafe: Sweet, soft cheese, kataifi and syrup with pistachio and rose
Suzie’s take stays true to tradition while adding her signature finesse. Delicate kataifi pastry - shredded filo that's crisped to golden perfection - wraps around a core of soft, sweet cheese, creating a luscious melt-in-the-middle centre. It is then soaked in rose syrup and topped with pistachios.
Warm, crunchy, gooey, sweet - it’s a total comfort dish, and the perfect finale to Suzie’s bold, flavour-packed takeover menu at Jimmy’s BBQ Club.
